Salmonella Symptoms

As in other food poisoning outbreaks, the number of cases reported to health authorities is likely just a fraction of the true number of illnesses associated with a given food product. Signs and symptoms of a salmonella infection include diarrhea, fever, and stomach cramps for 4 to 7 days, with most otherwise healthy individuals resolving without seeking medical attention.

If Your Purchased Recalled Fruit

If you purchased melon products affected by this recall, or you have in your possession fruit that you cannot determine the source of, you should discard it immediately or return it to the point of purchase for a recall.

The salmonella outbreak was first reported on March 4 and continued thru April 8, CDC said. At least 32 people have been hospitalized for complications to date, the agency said.
