What’s the Problem?

May 17, 2017 – The component being recalled is the Cabrinha stainless steel POWER BRACKET SEAT (PBS) and the lower front line, according to the Consumer Products Safety Commission (CPSC). The agency is aware of at least 6 reports of Cabrinha Kiteboard control systems breaking during use.

PBS is mounted on the top of the depower mainline between one of the lower front lines and the landing line, and used as a stopping point for one of the flying lines while allowing activation of the 1X security landing line.

The recalled component connects with the landing line on the Overdrive 1X Recoil with Fireball or Quickloop, Overdrive 1X Trimlite with Fireball or Quickloop, 1X Trimlite with Fireball or Quickloop and the Chaos 1X Control systems. Affected model numbers include:

Only models with “2017 1X” printed on a cloth tab attached to the bungee line restrainers at the end of the bars are included in the recall. About 2,900 units are affected by the action, according to CPSC.

Recalled kiteboard systems were manufactured by Cabrinha Kites and sold at watersports stores nationwide from July 2016 to March 2017 for about $550.

If you purchased a recalled Cabrinha Kiteboard control system, you should stop using it immediately and return it to the point of purchase for a free replacement kit and instructional guide on how to install the PBS.
