What’s the problem?

February 2, 2018 – The plaintiff was flying from Paris from Incheon in a business class seat in March 2014 when the flight attendant spilled the noodle soup, causing second and third degree burns to her stomach and thigh, according to the Korea Herald.

Plaintiff alleges that the plane lacked basic medical supplies to treat her wounds, and that she was forced to rely on ointment, ice, and Tylenol until they reached their destination.

She also claims that it will be difficult for her to ever fully recover, even with regular skin graft surgeries, and that the burns were so severe they could interfere with her future plans for pregnancy.

Plaintiff filed the lawsuit in 2015, demanding about 2 million won in damages.

Asiana Airlines argued that plaintiff caused the accident by knocking over the tray on which the noodle soup was sitting, and that it provided her with emergency treatment per the in-flight doctor’s instructions.

The Seoul Eastern District Court on Wednesday ruled in favor of Chang and ordered the airline and flight attendant named in the complaint to pay her a total of 109.6 million won in damages.
