What’s the problem?
September 18, 2015 – According to the lawsuit, 71-year-old Kathleen R. Dvergsten developed “flu-like” symptoms consistent with food poisoning after eating a salad with tainted cucumbers at a Red Lobster near her home in Farmington, MN on Aug. 12.
The cucumbers named in the lawsuit were imported from Mexico and distributed by Andrew & Williamson Fresh Produce (AWP), who is named as the defendant, according to NBC News.
Dvergsten alleges that following her meal at Red Lobster, her symptoms worsened to include severe stomach cramps, vomiting and “near-constant diarrhea.” She was hospitalized 2 days later and diagnosed with Salmonella Poona, the same strain implicated in the cucumber outbreak.
Dvergsten remained hospitalized for a week before being transferred to a local rehabilitation center. She returned home to complete her recovery on Aug. 28, according to the lawsuit.
