February 23, 2017 – According to the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA), this recall affects the following products:
- Against the Grain Pulled Beef with Gravy Dinner for Dogs
- 12 ounce can
- Lot Number: 2415E01ATB12
- UPC Code (second half): 80001
- Expiration Date: December 2019
These products were distributed in 2015 to independent pet retail stores in Washington and Maryland. Against the Grain, Inc. has verified that affected lots are no longer on any store shelves. No other Against the Grain Pet Food products are affected by this recall, according to the FDA.
What are the Side Effects of Phenobarbital in Dogs?
Oral exposure to pentobarbital can cause side effects including:
- Loss of balance
- Nystagmus (eyes moving back and forth in a jerky manner)
- Inability to stand
Consumers who purchased any Against the Grain Pet Food affected by this recall can return it to the point of purchase and receive a full case of dog food for the inconvenience. If your dog is experiencing any of the above symptoms, take them to a vet immediately.
